Kveik

Translating as ‘ignite’ in Old Norweginan, KVEIK is a series of three candleholder designs, combining five types of clay and five common Norwegian woods. Each is created through the process og turning—one of the oldest methods of transforming materials into different shapes. The pieces demonstrate a cyclic pattern, both in their forms and in the relationships between their material constituents: wood, fire, and fired clay.

Ash, elm, birch, beech and cherry combined with porcelain and stoneware.
